Well it’s been a pretty wild few years for the Miller House. From losing our first 2 dogs, Jäger (the Bulldog aged 11) & Nitro (the Beagle aged 10) in 2018 life just snowballed into a thick fog that we are still working our way through. In 2019, Barney had some major life threatening health complications. A routine small day surgery turned into 12 major life saving surgeries & the loss of his right kidney. He was confined to a hospital bed for 16 months, 6 of those months having to be completely flat on his back & just as we were getting ready to get our lives back on track again the entire world shut down. In hindsight though, that downtime was the best opportunity to rest & recover without the guilt or pressure of missing anything else. When your life & all you know is threatened to be stripped away forever it really puts a lot into perspective. So we dreamed & planned & we dreamed some more. We decided it was time to sell our place in California that we had had for 10 years & we bought a Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 Campervan fitted out by Jayco. We named him Bruce Sprintersteen. We have spent the past 9 months researching & planning a dream trip across Australia up to Exmouth, WA. This trip had actually been our first holiday dreaming after Barney’s third surgery in 2019 when we were hoping there would be no more. We had booked to fly over & catch the Indian Pacific Train home as our Outback experience but then had it cancelled & rebooked 4 times from Barney still being in hospital unable to travel to the border shutdowns last year. Now we have the van we are excited to finally be doing the trip even better than we originally planned. There are always silver linings. We start our trip Mid May, 2021 with no return date just yet but we are excited to see our beautiful big backyard & all it has to offer. We will be taking our 2 beautiful bulldogs, Byrdie & Bowie & they are just as excited for this great adventure. The van is in its final preparations, getting a custom roof rack & and side surfboard rack made up. Stay tuned for more details soon on the custom jobs we have made for our new home on 4×4 wheels.
